Marzipan Diyas

Ingredients:  Store bought marzipan and gel food color.

Ten year old Varun carefully shapes Marzipan diyas.

1.   Mix color into half the marzipan and shape into diyas. 

 

Add rolled out marzipan for the wicks and a blob of uncolored marzipan at the bottom of the diya.

Peanut Laddos

Peanut laddos - kids can cook.

Ingredients:                             

1 cup unsalted roasted peanuts
1/2 cup jaggery
Cardamom powder to taste
1 teaspoon ghee

In a mixer grind 1 cup of roasted unsalted peanuts to a coarse powder.
Microwave jaggery for a few seconds to get it to crumble easily.       Stir together the peanuts, jaggery, ghee and cardamon powder.
Mix all ingredients by hand and shape to make small ladoos about one inch or less across.  The size depends on the small hands making them.
